The Blue Badge scheme helps you park nearer to your destination if you have a disability.
Apply or renew
You can apply for a Blue Badge for yourself, someone else or on behalf of an organisation.
The Blue Badge issue fee is £10. Payment can be made when completing the online application. The fee will be refunded if your application is not successful.
It can take up to 12 weeks to receive your Blue Badge once all required evidence has been received.
You can ask a family member, friend or carer to assist you or apply on your behalf. Computers are available to use at your local library. You may also go to Citizen’s Advice Plymouth or Age UK Plymouth who have experience in helping.
Terminal illness
We understand dealing with terminal illness is an exceptionally difficult time. If you have a terminal illness, which means you cannot walk or find walking very difficult you may be eligible for a Blue Badge from the Department for Transport.
Applications due to terminal illness should be accompanied by a SR1 form or letter headed paper from a medical professional (Doctor, Nurse, hospice or palliative care medical staff). We will fast track these applications to provide a blue badge as soon as possible.
Applicants will need to provide:
- your contact details
- your email address (we send all renewal reminders by email)
- your National Insurance number (if you have one)
- details of your current Blue Badge (if you have one)
- your driving licence number (if you have one)
- £10 issue fee
You will also be asked to upload a photo or scan of:
- a recent passport style photo, with no filters or editing
- proof of identity (like a birth certificate, passport or driving licence)
- proof of address (like a council tax bill or driving licence)
- proof of benefits (if you get any)
- proof of terminal illness (if you have one), such as a DS1500 form or letter from a doctor
- proof of your health or mobility problems (if you do not qualify automatically)
