Your council tax bill

Council tax information

Council tax is a local tax which helps fund local services such as, adults and children's social care, libraries, bin collections, street lights and emergency services.

The Valuation Office Agency gives each property a band between A and H depending on the property's value. The amount you pay depends on which band your property is in.

For more information on the bill and bands, see our bill explained page.

Each March we issue over 120,000 paper council tax bills, if you would prefer the convenience of having paperless billing you can sign up for paperless billing.
