The western section of Plymouth’s MRN forms a vital route from Cornwall and the west of the city into the heart of Plymouth. Connecting the A38 to the Dockyard and Naval Base at Devonport, it also crucially links onwards to the City Centre and Waterfront Growth area.
The scheme will focus on the A3064 St Budeaux Bypass and its junctions at Camels Head and Carlton Terrace / Ferndale Road.
The scheme will upgrade the junctions to improve their operation, with localised road widening to increase capacity which will reduce delays, congestion and journey times on this part of the MRN route. The scheme will also improve cycling and pedestrian facilities including upgrading the off-road shared-use path along St Budeaux Bypass (which connects to the recently upgraded A38 Mowhay Road cycle-pedestrian bridge) to a high-quality segregated path.
