Recycling centres

Our recycling centres are open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Photo ID

You need to show a photo ID driving licence with a Plymouth address (or Plymouth council tax bill and another form of photo ID) to use our recycling centres. You can bring rubbish for someone else but you will need to show their ID and their council tax bill.

March to October Monday: 9.30am to 7pm
Tuesday to Friday and Sunday: 9.30am to 6pm
Saturday: 8.30am to 6.30pm
November to February Monday: 9.30am to 6pm
Tuesday to Friday and Sunday: 9.30am to 5pm
Saturday: 8.30am to 5.30pm

You can recycle or dispose of the following at Chelson Meadow:

  • Antifreeze, asbestos, chemicals
  • Batteries (car and household)
  • Bedding – duvets, quilts and pillows

  • Books, CDs, DVDs
  • Bric-a-brac, clothes
  • Cans and metal, cardboard, paper, plastic
  • Electrical appliances, computers, fridges and freezers, televisions
  • Fluorescent tubes and low energy lamps
  • Furniture
  • Garden waste, soil and hardcore
  • Gas bottles
  • Glass bottles and jars, sheet glass
  • Metal, plasterboard, paint, wood
  • Oil (cooking and engine)

Vans and trailers

You need a van and trailer permit to take a van or a trailer into our recycling centres.
