Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme

EV owners can claim up to 75% (capped at £500, inc. VAT) off the total capital costs of the chargepoint and installation costs.

Workplace Charging Scheme

Employers can claim 75% of purchase and installation costs, up to a maximum of £500 for each socket, up to a maximum of 20 across all sites for each applicant.

Chargepoints in Plymouth

You can charge your electric vehicle at pay as you go chargepoints in Plymouth. The chargepoints are either 7kw or 22kw mode three twin head chargepoints using type two connectors (not provided) and were funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles. Most vehicles will be fully charged in three to five hours.

The Council has installed chargepoints by two operators, Pod Point and SWARCO.  Both operate as Pay As You Go.

SWARCO

To use a chargepoint you need to follow the instructions at the SWARCO website. The SWARCO chargepoints costs £0.25p per kWh.

  • Alexandra Road (Crownhill car park), available 24 hours, first 3 hours free parking (22kWh)
  • Elphinstone car park, available 24 hours, cost for parking (7kWh)
  • Plymstock Broadway car park, available 24 hours, cost for parking free parking overnight (22kWh).

Pod Point

To use a chargepoint you need to register your details with Pod Point. You can register or download the app from the Pod Point website, email support@pod-point.com or phone 020 7247 4114.

The Pod Point chargepoints cost £0.25p per kWh - which is payable until you unplug your vehicle even after it's fully charged.

  • Mutley Plain car park, available 24 hours, cost for parking 8am to 6pm, free parking overnight (7kw)
  • Plymouth Coach Station and Mayflower Street West car park (7kw)

  • Plymouth Life Centre, available 24 hours, free parking (7kw)

  • Regent Street car park, available 6am to midnight, cost for parking (7kw)

  • The George park and ride, available 24 hours, free parking (7kw)

  • Theatre Royal car park, available 6am to midnight, cost for parking (7kw)

  • Western Approach car park, available 6am to midnight, cost for parking (22kw).

These are PAYG with the fee set by the individual landowner.

Clean Streets

The £3 million project aims to trial innovative pop-up Electric Vehicle chargers that are built into the ground and only rise up when in use, providing a safe, discreet, attractive and low-cost charging solution for electric vehicle drivers who don’t have access to off-street parking. The UEOne chargepoints are designed for convenient kerbside parking for use by residents, visitors and commuters.
