Every three years Plymouth City Council hosts the awards to celebrate the role of architects, designers and building companies in shaping the city.
The awards, which are named after the architect responsible for the plan to rebuild Plymouth after the Blitz, takes a look at a huge range of work from small conversions and projects to transform open spaces to multi-million pound housing or business projects.
Award categories
- Best Conversion or Conservation Project (sponsored by Ashfords)
- Best Smaller Development (sponsored by William Lean)
- Best Public Space
- Best New Housing Project (sponsored by Plymouth Housing Development Partnership)
- Best Community Project (sponsored by Drakes Circus)
- Best Green Project (sponsored by Millfields Trust)
- Best New Building (sponsored by Design Review Panel)
The following three awards are in addition to the categories above but aren't nominated by the public:
- People of Plymouth award - shortlisted by suggestions from the public, make your suggestion above (sponsored by Architects Design Group)
- Judges Special award – recognises a Plymouth Planning project that has contributed most to the city since the awards began, this award is decided by the judges (sponsored by Plymouth City Council)
- Abercrombie Award – recognises the best overall Plymouth planning project, this award isn't nominated by the public, it's picked from the schemes nominated through the rest of the categories.
