Travel information FAQs

We will collect the child from as close to their home as possible. Students may have to walk a reasonable distance to and from home to meet their transport.

Parents/carers are responsible for getting their child safely to and from the transport. Passenger Assistants will not leave the vehicle.

We will schedule a pickup time for your child. If the time is unsuitable we cannot offer a different time. We can offer a petrol allowance instead which will allow you to take your child to/from school.

We aim to keep the travelling time below an hour for primary school aged children.

If the school closes early or your child finishes school early, you will be required to collect your child.

Delays

We make every effort to minimise delays but sometimes this is inevitable. Please wait 10 minutes after your child’s pick-up time then call the School Transport Team on 01752 308770 to check if there are any delays.

Child seats

If your child needs a car seat for school transport. You will need to collect the car seat from our main office: Ballard House, West Hoe Road, Plymouth, PL1 3BJ. You will need to collect the car seat before your child starts school transport.  You will be contacted once the seat is ready for collection.

Passenger Assistants

We will provide a Passenger Assistant if your child needs help during the journey. For example, due to the child’s age, special needs or details given on the child’s Placement/Care Plan. Students 16 and over won't be provided with a Passenger Assistant.

Passenger Assistants receive theory and practical training. They can support your child and their needs whilst they are travelling to/from school.
