Wildlife enhancement (Biodiversity)

What is Biodiversity net gain?

Biodiversity is the biological variety of plant and animal species in a habitat. One of the focuses of the project is to enhance wildlife and raise awareness in local communities. The project has a Biodiversity net gain target to achieve this mission. Biodiversity net gain is the measurable improvement of biodiversity. This measurement is used to account for biodiversity loss or degradation in the city by restoring or enhancing habitats and wildlife.

The project does this through conservation techniques that support biodiversity such as coppicing, wildflower seeding and thinning scrub. National Trust Urban Rangers and Kickstarters are out on the sites getting dug into improving Plymouth’s natural spaces and creating spaces for wildlife to thrive.
