Medical checks

Drivers must meet the DVLA Group 2 fitness to drive standards.

You need to get a medical examination:

  • when you first apply to become a taxi driver
  • every 5 years when you turn 45, until you're 65 years old
  • every year after you're 70 years old

The examination confirms that you're fit, healthy and able to drive a taxi or private hire vehicle.

Take the form to your doctor to fill in.

Printers are available in your local library.
