The proposal replaces the barrier fence next to the bin with a heavy-duty, concrete filled bollard in 70cm deep concrete foundations to help ensure no unauthorised vehicle access. This creates a wider gap to allow mobility scooters and disability adapted cycles to pass through more easily and safely, while still helping to slow cyclists. The proposal includes relocating the bin to a place where the prevailing winds will carry the smell away from the picnic area.
The proposals are intended to improve accessibility for users of wheelchairs, mobility scooters, adapted cycles, pushchairs, cargo bikes and bike trailers whist the heavy duty bollards would make it harder for unauthorised vehicles to gain access to the park.
