Energy from waste plant

This facility is close to the North Yard of HM naval base in Devonport. It was designed and constructed by MVV Environment Ltd. It is a high efficiency energy from waste plant with a capacity to generate power from over 245,000 tonnes of waste per year.

The facility is operated as a combined heat and power (CHP) plant. It provides sustainable electrical energy and heat to the naval base and dockyard as well as some electricity to the national grid. Plymouth City Council Building Control were a key part of the design team from early planning to handover and operational use in 2015.
