Roland Levinsky building

Named after the University’s Vice Chancellor at the time, the Roland Levinsky Building adds a distinctive new dimension to the city’s changing skyline. It is located opposite Drake Circus shopping centre. The construction phase took over two and a half years and was completed in the summer of 2007. Plymouth City Council Building Control were involved from early pre-application stage to completion. During excavations there were many challenges and discoveries such as a leat that ran through the site.

The concept designers for the project were Danish architecture company, Henning Larsens Tegnestue, based in Copenhagen. Executive architects were Building Design Partnership, from the practice's Bristol office. They worked with the main contractor, engineers and Plymouth Building Control.
